RARE SHIRLEY TEMPLE COMPOSITION DOLL 22" 1934 ORIGINAL W/ COP N&T MARKINGS.
This is a wonderful original Shirley temple doll with the Copyright Pending markings. Christmas of 1934 came, and Ideal saw how successful the Shirley doll would be and so they got a patent on the Shirley Temple doll. For the first year of production, the name SHIRLEY TEMPLE was stamped on the doll along with a COP, which stood for Copyright Pending. This doll has the SHIRLEY TEMPLE (in the shape of a half circle) IDEAL N.&T.Co. (inside the half circle, usually written IDEAL, straight across, on one line, and N.&T.Co. on the next), this mark also came with COP (C with the O and P inside it), to stand for Copyright Pending on her head. She has Shirley Temple in a half circle on her back. The remarkable thing is what good shape this doll is in considering she was made in 1934. Her hair is so soft and has all its original curls. She is 22 inches tall. She has all her lashes and face coloring. Really rosy cheeks as you can see in the pictures. Her eyes have not been oiled but do not detract from her cuteness. Her dress has a tag on the outside of her dress. She has the one piece slip and pants combination. She has her original pin. I have never taken off her shoes as I don' t want to mess with the snap closing. They are in good condition considering her age.  Her stringing is a little loose, but she poses great on a doll stand or leaning up against something, as seen in the pictures. Light crazing here and there with a chipped piece of composition on her cheek.
