18” 1930’s Ideal Composition Shirley Temple Doll with Tagged Mohair Wig
Description:
The face & body color & condition of the composition are extremely good, with no visible crazing & no cracks.
The blue eyes are flawless & bright, & the lashes are perfect.
The eyes open & close readily, but sometimes they need a gentle touch to open them all the way.
She has a felt tongue & six very pretty intact teeth.
The beautiful soft blonde curly mohair wig is in super condition, & even holds the original
partial
signed tag stating “Original Shirley Temple Doll Wig Trademark Registered… ....Novelty & Toy Company”.
Probably from the wardrobe in the line offered by the Ideal Doll Co. for the vary popular Shirley Temple Dolls, this fine white organdy 3-piece outfit includes a lovely bonnet with pail blue silk ribbon & trim tie, and 4 rows of textured ribbon for edging on its ruffle.
It matches the hem of the dress, which also features ruffled sleeves, blue silk ribbon, & a little bouquet of silk flowers.
The slip or underskirt & panties are attached as one & snap on under the dress.
Her rayon sox have a blue stripe, & the white leatherette shoes are snap-on Mary Janes with metal buckles (very good condition) but one does not have the bow (which could be easily cut out & replaced).
The organdy is in good condition, with only one 1/16” hole in the back of the skirt that is nearly invisible & you really have to look for it.
There is a section at the waist seam that has been hand-reinforced but outwardly invisible & not to the detriment of the garment.
The body is sturdily strung & very poseable.
She has original finger nail polish.
It is charming that this Ideal line of Shirley Temple dolls really is a true portrait of Shirley as a child.
A very clean & well-preserved doll.
Her body is securely strung.
