    Description

I am downsizing and must sell all of my 12” Shirley Temple doll outfits.  This week and the weeks to come, I will be listing Shirley outfits produced from 1960-1961—many are complete or near complete and I will be listing them in order by Ideal’s stock number.
To find them, keep checking my Seller’s List:
    https://www.ebay.com/sch/antiq45/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_ipg=&_from=
If you don’t want to wait, you can request that I go ahead and list a certain outfit that you are interested in earlier than its stock # would indicate.  It may take me a week or two to set up and post the requested listing.
    I do combine shipping and
if you win more than one auction
, I can ship them in the same package—
so check with me before you pay
and I will send your invoice with an adjusted shipping cost.  If you give me enough time, you can also contact me with your zip code and the items you are interested in and I can send you a quote for shipping all in one package.
    5 day auction—
This cotton dress has a sewn-on pinafore-look with 2 buttons on the bodice of the pinafore and rick rack at the hem of the pinafore, white puffed sleeves and attached white skirt under the pinafore.  It was one of the outfits made by the Ideal Company for their 1958-1962, 12” Shirley Temple doll.  It is outfit #9716, labeled ‘Pattern Print Pinafore’ on page 160 of Tonya Bervaldi-Camaratta’s reference book,
The Complete guide to Shirley Temple Dolls and Collectibles
    in
    2006.
She states that the dress was produced in 1960, came with a signature purse and was valued at in 2006.  I have seen both blue and red versions of this dress.  Other reference books that this outfit can be found in are:
    Collector’s Guide to Ideal Dolls—Identification & Values
by Judith Izen in 1999 and
    Shirley Temple Dolls and Collectibles
by Patricia R. Smith in 1977.
This dress is in played-with, vintage condition, but with some work could look quite nice.  First, the gripper snaps are still securely attached.  First, there is a stain on the back of the skirt—I don’t know if it is age discoloration or if something brownish got on it.  A soak in Biz or OxyClean might get the stain out (or lighten it) and should also brighten up the dress portion that should be white (not the age-darkened look it has now).  The dress has a light musty odor which a cleaning soak should remove.  The elastic in the puffed sleeves has stretched out.  You can thread a large-eyed needle with elastic thread, baste it through the original elastic, pull it tighter, then tie a knot on the inside.  The fabric in about ½” of the top of the back seam of the skirt has pulled out.  This could be mended with a sewing machine and off-white thread.
There is a tag sewn into a seam inside the skirt portion of the dress.  I forgot to take this picture, but can tell you that the tag is wrinkled and the print is faded.
The signature purse is nice, yet not perfect condition.  There is no damage to the painted ‘Shirley Temple’ graphic.  However, each end of the opening in the handle has a small tear.  From what the author above mentions, I believe that the purse makes this outfit complete.
    ***
This outfit has been in my collection for many years.  I have a smoke free home, and I do not smell unpleasant odors on it other than the ‘mustiness’ mentioned above.  Using all or some of the ideas above, this collectible Shirley outfit
    could
make a nice addition to your collection.
